2007 Thanksgiving Prayer
By Riviera UCC | November 18, 2007
Gracious God,
Despite whatever sense of need we may feel today – as we sit here on this fine Florida fall morning– the stunning truth is we have a life of abundance; a life overflowing with good things; great things, miraculous things. No matter what our bank account may be: WE ARE WEALTHY We are alive. Our hearts beat. Life courses through our veins. We breathe in and out. Our hands touch. We are nourished. Our thirst is quenched. We move from place to place by foot or mobile aids.
And when we move we encounter an amazing creation full of wonder, full of variety, full of beauty, full of other lives large and small, soft and furry, fast and slow, mysterious and comforting.
And everywhere we go, even as we sit here today – perhaps especially as we sit here today– we are loved. Loved by family. Loved by friends. Loved by loved ones. Loved by one another. And best, best, of all always, ALWAYS loved by you, The One, The Mother, The Father, The Great I Am, God whose love is steadfast and sure.
Gracious God, Creator, God of everlasting love we give you thanks for all this wealth, for the abundance of good things, great things, miraculous things.
Guide us, lead us, steer us, direct us to a week of thanksgiving. A week of thanks for life, for your glorious creation, and for you in whom we live and move and have our being.
AMEN
Rev. Scott Elliott
