Adult Sunday School
The adult Sunday school meets weekly from Fall through Spring. All adults are welcome to join in discussion, questioning and contemplation of a variety of religious topics. The courses generally range from six to nine weeks, and involve book study or video lecture series. Examples of past topics include “Remedial Christianity,” “Women and Female Images in the Bible,” The Shack,” Barbara Taylor Brown’s “An Altar in the World,” Mitch Albom’s “Have a Little Faith,” and “The Greatest Prayer: Rediscovering the Revolutionary Message of the Lord’s Prayer” by John Dominic Crossan.
Interesting and informative video lectures from The Teaching Company and The Great Courses series are taught by award-winning professors and biblical scholars. These courses offer in-depth historical information and perspectives about the development of Christianity in a multi-faith world. They are designed to stimulate, challenge, and support persons in the community and church in their spiritual pilgrimage.
Wednesday Bible Study
The Bible study group meets at 11:30 am on Wednesdays, also Fall through Spring. The study generally focuses on the scripture lesson for the following Sunday’s worship service. But discussion among this lively, loving group often takes unexpected detours! All are welcome to come and listen, learn, question, and share perspectives on the words of the great book that guides our lives.
Reading for Renewal Book Group
One book is chosen per month, and everyone who reads that month’s book is invited to join the discussion. Books are chosen from the new Reading for Renewal list which can be found on the table under the glassed-in announcement board in the Narthex of the church. Check the calendar for the next scheduled meeting. Read and refresh your spirit!
